The main artery of Gran Canaria: it connects Las Palmas to Puerto de Mogan, the last town on the south coast. Boring road, often busy, but well kept. Every now and then it does offer some interesting scenic glimpses. It connects all the towns and tourist locations of the south coast, but also leads to some much lesser-known yet decidedly more charming fishing villages, like Tufia or Arinaga. It's practically impossible to visit the island without driving it, but it must be seen as a necessary evil for the roads that come after.

Beautiful road, although the asphalt is a bit old in some spots. It connects Telde (practically on the sea) to the highest part of the island. Wide road, often with two lanes, full of long, smooth curves and challenging hairpins. Along this road are two of the most panoramic points of Gran Canaria: Pico de las Nieves, the highest point of the island, and the Caldera de Los Marteles, impressive especially after the rains. It must absolutely be driven uphill from Telde. Watch out! Its main feature — namely, connecting the sea to the highest point of the island — can also be its problem. You may end up crossing through the clouds (though the view as soon as you go above them is breathtaking) and the temperature can vary a lot from bottom to top.

Very interesting road: it starts from Tarifa Alta, passes through two very elegant and characteristic towns, Santa Brígida and Vega de San Mateo, and reaches Tejeda, one of the most visited and famous villages of Gran Canaria. The initial part is a bit boring, mainly in the inhabited centres, although it offers an interesting glimpse of some very elegant and characteristic residences. The final part instead is a road of all respect: new asphalt, many curves, and luckily often little traffic. A bit narrow. Fortunately, you can also reach the higher part via other much more beautiful roads: it's only worth doing the whole thing if you intend to visit the towns along the way.

One of the road gems of Gran Canaria: it connects the panoramic Mirador Astronómico de Pinos de Gáldar to road 130. Along its course you can find Cruz de Tejeda, a very particular place with a spectacular view, a luxury hotel with Spa, and some extremely typical small markets and restaurants. If driven just before sunset it offers a breathtaking view: the stretch of road from Cruz de Tejeda to the Mirador offers a view with the sun setting over Tenerife that you'll remember for a long time. Only flaw: it's too short!!

It's the highway of the north of Gran Canaria, but don't be scared: in Gran Canaria even the highways can be interesting!! It certainly doesn't offer the fun of other roads, but it offers many fascinating views, especially at night, it passes through very characteristic glimpses, and some truly beautiful and authentic villages, like El Puertillo and Puerto de las Nieves, lie along it. In practice, during your tour of Gran Canaria you'll drive it almost unavoidably, but it won't be a boring experience at all, quite the opposite!

GC-200

Asphalt 9/10 Route 10/10 Landscape 10/10

THE road of Gran Canaria. It has it all: fast, flowing sections, roads overhanging the ocean, views, towns, legendary beaches... Not to be missed. It starts from Puerto de Mogan, one of the most charming port towns of Gran Canaria. The first stretch, up to La Aldea, is a wide and well-paved road, very fun to ride on a motorbike. It touches some points of great beauty, like the Mirador de Veneguera and Fuente de los Azulejos. It's also the closest road to the mysterious Güigüí beach. Much more easily accessible but still beautiful is the La Aldea beach as well. The second part, instead, is one emotion after another. It begins with the legendary Mirador del Bàlcon, a terrace overhanging the ocean with a unique view. Then it continues with a road sheer above the ocean, winding but extremely rewarding, with an almost continuous view of Tenerife and its imposing Mount Teide. Probably one of the most beautiful roads and emotions of Gran Canaria. You arrive at the end in Agaete and its port, Puerto de las Nieves, one of the most charming ports on the island.

Very long road in the north of the island, about an hour of driving. As often happens in Gran Canaria, this road has two souls. Almost boring starting from Tamaraceite, then it passes through some interesting towns, in particular Teror, and finally becomes spectacular in the final stretch that leads to the famous Mirador Astronómico de Pinos de Gáldar up to Artenara. This last part is really a 10/10. It's not worth doing the whole thing, but the last part is truly wonderful and joins very well with other equally beautiful roads for a fairytale itinerary. A detail: it's really very long and gently sloped, so it's an excellent option as a return route.

Very beautiful and well-kept road that connects Tejeda to Artenara and then continues. Breathtaking views that change constantly, very charming towns to visit. Unfortunately the second part, up to La Aldea, is one of the most dangerous and worst-maintained roads on the island. It's advisable to plan an itinerary that allows you to enjoy the best parts, avoiding the most damaged stretches. In the itineraries only the best part is always included, so the ratings refer only to the recommended part.

What an incredible road! It's a secondary road that climbs from Galdar up to the GC 21, just before Artenara. Despite this, the quality of the asphalt is very high, and the various small villages it passes through at the start don't spoil the driving experience at all — quite the opposite. It starts with a barren landscape, then as you climb the vegetation becomes greener and more lush, up to the conifer forests typical of the higher altitudes of Gran Canaria. There aren't many points of interest along it, unless you enjoy long walks on the hills, but it remains a true pearl among the lesser-known roads.

It's one of my favourite roads, somewhat without real reasons. A fairly useless road that lets you avoid a boring stretch of the GC-2 highway from Las Palmas to Galdar, but precisely for this reason I'm satisfied every time I take it because I avoid the highway with a beautiful alternative. The road is short but very beautiful, winding, with asphalt in excellent condition. It offers a panoramic point over the entire north coast of Gran Canaria and one of the most important prehistoric sites of the island, Cernobio Valeron, which alone is worth the itinerary if you're interested. As a road, on its own it's probably not worth the trip, but if you're driving the highway and can afford to be 15/20 minutes late, it's a mandatory choice for any self-respecting motorcyclist.

It contends the title of "Most beautiful road of Gran Canaria" with the GC-200. Very long, almost an hour and a half, it connects Maspalomas to the centre of the island. Very good asphalt, sections of road that are very flowing and others sinuous. Along the route there are many miradores and towns to visit, in particular San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The final part of the road goes around Roque Nublo, allowing you to see it from every direction while at the same time opening the view towards Tenerife. Looking precisely towards Tenerife, this road has my favourite "piece of asphalt" of the whole island, which I call "The Painting of Tenerife". A curiosity: the road is very long and, despite climbing all the way to the centre of the island, it always remains fairly flat. If in your itinerary you're looking for a victim to descend toward the sea, this can be an excellent candidate.

One of the three roads that make up "the ring around the heart of Gran Canaria", in this case the south-eastern side. There's little to say: it's a perfect road! Breathtaking views, winding curves, fun ups and downs, and an always impeccable asphalt. One of the must-do roads of Gran Canaria. Want more? Along this road you'll also find the access to Roque Nublo, one of the most famous and visited natural monuments of the island.

Very long road, big sister of the GC-75. The road can be divided into two parts: the first, from Galdàr to the Mirador Astronomino de los Pinos de Galdàr, is a road that's barely adequate, narrow, with asphalt in some spots that's very worn, and which passes through many towns offering little driving pleasure. The second part instead, from about halfway to the Mirador Astronomino de los Pinos de Galdàr, is a much more beautiful road, immersed in greenery, very fun to drive. Luckily, the first part can easily be replaced with the GC-75, which starts from the ocean a short distance from the beginning of the GC-70 and rejoins about halfway. If you can, always opt for this combo.

Truly peculiar road. Very short, it connects the GC 70 and the GC 220. However, despite being very short, it offers an unexpected variety of landscapes: it starts inside a conifer forest, and then crosses every possible gradient of vegetation to end in an almost "Irish" hilly landscape, all enhanced by truly excellent asphalt and very winding and fun routes. I don't think it's worth planning an itinerary just to see this road, but if you're lucky enough to drive it, I'm sure you'll appreciate this little gem too!

Beautiful road immersed in greenery that climbs from the highway and, in a little less than half an hour, will take you to the Mirador Astronomino de los Pinos de Galdàr at over 1500 metres of altitude. Although short, it offers almost the best of the island: good asphalt, a really fun route, often in the shade of trees, a truly charming town, Moya, and suggestive views along the whole route and breathtaking ones once you reach the Mirador Astronomino de los Pinos de Galdàr. Ideal for hot summer days thanks to the nearly continuous shade. It's one of my favourite roads and I always try to drive it uphill, from the highway towards the mountains. However, driven downhill it offers truly fantastic views, with the sight often opening all the way to the ocean.
